Mikey the St. Bernard arrived at our house when I was six. He was born under the basement stairs with 9 other brothers and sisters, to his mother Patches. My mother tells me I would sleep walk to go get a puppy to snuggle. I have many fond memories of him, especially during the wintertime when he would pull us kids through the snow on a toboggan. After his passing, we adopted a pair of Australian Shepard/Black Lab crosses, which turned out to be an incredible combination. Guy and Girl may not have had clever names, but they were whip smart, and just as fast. They loved our family, but much preferred to stay outdoors -- even during the cold Hamilton Township winters! Girl taught herself to hunt various critters around the farm, groundhogs being her particular favourite. Though they never truly acclimated to an indoor lifestyle, they made such an impression on the family that there have never been dogs to match them since.

When I got a little older I participated in our local 4-H club (sheep, beef, and dairy), training and showing the animals we cared for, as well as teaching the city kids about animal husbandry and not being afraid to get dirty. It was there I started my journey as a trainer. If you think your dog is a tough nut to crack, you should see how stubborn a lamb can be! Years later Archer came into my life, and my passion for animal training was born anew.

Archer came to me as a pup from a breeder who guaranteed his ability to retrieve, a handy thing when you're a Labrador Retriever! Despite my extensive experience as a hunter, training for and participating in hunt and field trials was new to the both of us. We took to it quickly, and since we've been together we've accumulated more titles and ribbons than our little corkboard can handle. Not to mention more than a few birds for supper!

Though we've made some mistakes and had a few misadventures along the way, Archer and I are ready to take our successes and share them with you. Using my balanced training methods and giving you and your best friend my full one-on-one attention, I'm committed to helping you both find the kind of joyful and trusting relationship that Archer and I have.

Son of Rosecrest Maeve and Sammisgunn Nordic Odin, Jerryru's Midnight Archer was born in April of 2016. The following year, and after a lot of hard work and training, Archer competed in several field trials. Some of his accomplishments include placing first in his Junior trial and third in his Qualifying trial. He's also earned his Senior Hunt Test and Working Certificate titles, and will try to add more in 2018 when we travel to Alabama and Mississippi to try our hand (and paw!) at American HRC hunt tests.

Not only is Archer a hard worker and very serious when it comes to retrieving birds, he's also the biggest goofball you'll come across. He's always got kisses ready for anyone who wants them, and is overjoyed every time he gets to make a new friend, human or animal! As a long-time foster parent for the SPCA, Archer has grown up around kittens and cats with all sorts of personalities, and is as playful and gentle with them as possible. He accompanies me all summer. Best bud to have around. We can't wait for you and your dog to meet him!

Archer competed in HRC and has achieved his Hunter Retriever Champion Title and his second pass at Master Hunter.
